英國迷你劇《喜鵲謀殺案》那句台詞“When there is only one explanation that makes sense, then that is all the proof that you require”與本片這句台詞“Twaddle or not, it is the only explanation which fits all the facts”如出一轍。推理類文藝作品的第一條質量標準便是邏輯自洽。即使本片對原著的某些改編使得凶手的成功作案充滿了偶然性，但它依舊遵循了本格推理的“同一平麵”原則，波洛的揭曉謎底一幕仍是條分縷析，而波洛起初承認自己並無實據，也隻是欲擒故縱的煙霧彈罷了。不可否認的是，本片或多或少缺乏了懸疑色彩，盡管死者作為多線交匯的核心矛盾具備了被害的必然性，凶手也因完美不在場證明而隱匿起來，但作為觀眾的我饒有興致地看完本片，全憑對推理作品的熱愛而非敘述上的扣人心弦。
